Daniel Simpson, former NY Times journalist who spent time abroad in Serbia, discloses his experience of his time there as a tool for barking war propaganda narratives. Most interestingly, the NY Times sat on the NSA wiretap story for over a year before disclosing it. Certainly there should be discussion internally and with government about how to responsibly report on that without jeopardizing national secrets but I highly doubt it would take a year.
